Core Mechanics
**Beat Grid** is a vertical scrolling rhythm game where timing is everything. Notes fall down four lanes (D, F, J, K on keyboard), and your goal is to strike them exactly when they cross the hit line.
- 01Tap Tiles: Standard colored blocks. A quick tap is all you need. Precision determines your score (Perfect, Great, Good).
- 02Hold Tiles: Elongated trails. Press and hold the lane button for the entire duration of the trail to maximize points.
- 03Miss Limit: You have a tolerance of 5 misses. Exceeding this ends the run immediately.
Scoring & Combo Mastery
Scoring in Beat Grid isn't linear. It rewards consistency above all else. The key to high scores is the Combo Multiplier.
Perfect Hit
100 Base Points. Achieved by hitting within 20ms of the target line.
Great Hit
50 Base Points. Slightly off-beat but acceptable.
The Multiplier Effect
Your score for every hit is calculated as: Base Points * (1 + Floor(Combo / 10))
This means at a 50-combo streak, every note is worth 6x its normal value! Breaking your combo (Missing) is the most devastating thing you can do to your final score.
Pro Tips for High Scores
Adjust Your Sync
If you consistently hit "Great" instead of "Perfect", you might be tapping slightly early or late. Try listening to the audio cue rather than relying solely on visuals, or vice versa, to find your "latency offset".
The "Ghost Tap" Danger
Avoid spamming keys. Tapping a lane when no note is present won't penalize you directly, but it can throw off your rhythm for the next incoming note. Stay disciplined.
Focus Zone
Don't stare at the hit line. Look slightly above it (about 1/3rd up the screen). This allows your brain to process patterns before they arrive, rather than reacting at the last millisecond.
